Portfolio Manager Paul Kronlokken will begin his fourth year as a mentor with the CFA Society Minnesota (CFAMN) Professional Mentoring Program.
The program pairs an investment industry professional with a young member of CFAMN. Each pair will prepare a Partnership Framework that will identify a set of career and learning goals to be completed during an eight-month period. Mentors are encouraged to support their mentees by sharing their investment knowledge and experience, and guiding the mentees toward achieving specific developmental goals. Mentees are encouraged to focus on their personal development and professional growth opportunities.
The mentoring program will begin in March. Paul has been involved in the mentoring program since its inception in 2014. The CFAMN Professional Mentoring Program has been so well received that other CFA societies around the country are replicating the program.
This year will be Portfolio Manager Dennis Ott’s sixth year as a mentor to a team of University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management students for the annual CFA Society of Minnesota Investment Research Challenge. Sixteen teams are paired with a CFA member who serves as an industry mentor to guide them through the equity research process. The teams will also experience how the investment community gathers information for recommending a company. Each team analyzes the same company and the best analysis is chosen to compete at the next level.
Dennis’s team was chosen as a semi-finalist. Winners will be decided in late February and the winning team will compete at a national event in March.
